On December 11, Altai State University hosted the opening of the Regional National Technology Initiative Competence Center (NTI) in the direction of "Technologies for storing and analyzing big data".

The NTI Competence Center, created on the platform of Altai State University, is the first regional center in Russia. It fully corresponds to the ideology of national projects and those instructions of the President of the Russian Federation, which are presented for the national development goals of the Russian Federation and for developing science and promoting talents. The tasks of the Center include the transfer of technologies and their further commercialization, when scientific developments within the framework of projects that receive financial support from the state and business structures are implemented by industrial partners and in the future are completely transferred to a commercial basis. The main role is assigned to universities.

“Altai State University has taken a vector towards the development of digitalization, creation of a digital university, where big data processing technology is one of the priorities. In this direction, the teams of the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies and the Institute of Digital Technologies, Electronics and Physics will be mainly involved. In addition, since we are talking about a consortium, we are open to any cooperation and are ready to consider proposals for interaction with representatives of the Regional Ministry of Digital Development and Communications and the real sector of the economy. This is a large integration project, which will be interesting and useful not only for Altai State University, but for the whole region as well, since it will create digital institutions for regional development,” noted Rector of Altai State University Sergei Bocharov.

Dmitry Chegrov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Communications of Altai Krai, Alexey Beloshitsky, Executive Director of the Center for Storage and Analysis of Big Data, Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Sergey Trostyansky, Deputy Director of the NTI Competence Center for Big Data Storage and Analysis Technologies, Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Regina Tsygankova, Head of Applied Educational Projects at the Center for Storage and Analysis of Big Data, Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Director General of the Center for Educational Competencies of NTI, Veronika Kirillova, Head of the Department of Educational Programs of the Center for Educational Competencies of NTI, and others took part in the grand opening of the NTI Regional Competence Center.

Aleksey Beloshitsky, Executive Director of the Big Data Storage and Analysis Center, Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, noted that now Altai State University has become not only the Regional Center of Competence of NTI, but also a part of the All-Russian consortium for big data:

“Since May 2020, Altai State University and Moscow State University have been working together to develop projects in the field of big data. These are both agricultural and medical developments, which are now very popular due to the situation with Covid-19. We discussed these and many other projects of various sectors of the economy today at the event, both in terms of education and interaction with an industrial partner. In particular, a transfer of technologies related to the analysis of data on medical research is being built between MSU and AltSU."

“For a successful start of the commercialization of Altai State University's projects, it is necessary that the project team includes people who have already had experience in a particular industry, experience in implementing commercial projects. The university has such industrial partners, while among them there are also graduates of Altai State University, which is undoubtedly a plus, since they, as a rule, help to develop their alma mater, bring something new to its work. It is important for AltSU to use all the options for funding scientific research to successfully bring them to the applied stage and introduce them to the market,” said Sergei Trostyansky, Deputy Director of the NTI Competence Center for Big Data Storage and Analysis Technologies at the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov.

The event dedicated to the opening of the Competence Center for Storage and Analysis Technology of Big Data ended with the signing of an agreement between Altai State University and Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov on the creation on the platform of the flagship university of Altai Krai of the Regional NTI Competence Center, which is headed by Nikolai Oskorbin, Professor of the Department of Theoretical Cybernetics and Applied Mathematics of the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies of Altai State University, Doctor of Technical Sciences.
