Students from ASU collected 20 bags of garbage on the bank of Pivovarka
On April 21, a large environmental initiative took place in Barnaul aimed at cleaning up the banks of the Pivovarka River. Volunteers, social activists, and students from different universities took part in it. Altai State University was represented by members of different unions, including service brigade "Gorky", union "Perron 22", pedagogical union "Sigma", and construction brigade "Spectrum".
In total, over 60 people took part in the event. They gathered household waste, last year's leaves, and dry branches, amounting to more than 200 bags of garbage of various sizes.
“There was a lot of garbage, although I actually anticipated a larger quantity. I participate in various cleanup initiatives every year, and I have noticed a decrease in litter. It seems that that people are becoming more environmentally conscious and started cleaning up after themselves. Many people also join such environmental campaigns. This planet is our home and a place to raise our children,” shared his perspective Denis Zhdanov, a participant in the action, a 4th year student at the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical-Pharmaceutical Technologies, and a member of the brigade “Gorky.”
The construction brigades from Altai State University regularly participate in cleaning initiatives. Just a week ago the students cleaned up the area near the T-34 tank on Peace Square, and they will traditionally clean the monuments and graves of veterans by May 9th.
It is important to note that in 2024, the student teams of Altai Krai are celebrating a dual anniversary – 60 years since the origin of student brigades in the region and 55 years of the “Snow Landing” Campaign. Additionally, the country’s student brigades are commemorating the 65th anniversary of the birth of the movement and the 20th anniversary of the creation of the modern history of student brigades. In honor of these events, more than dozens of events are planned throughout the country, which will bring together over 1 million people. Over the 65 years of the movement’s existence, more than 20 million people have attended the student brigade school, gaining their first work experience, making new acquaintances, and contributing significantly to the development of our country.
