Today, the official website of Altai Krai announced that the project of a young scientist of Altai State University has become the winner of the competition of the federal program Start.

The results of the Start program carried out by the Innovation Promotion Foundation have become known. In 2020, four projects were received from Altai Krai, one of them was noted in the direction of Biotechnology.

The winning project "Development of an industrial producer of recombinant angiogenin in the Bacillus subtilis system" was presented by a first-year postgraduate student, junior researcher at Altai State University Ksenia Starozhilova. It is related to pharmaceuticals. Obtaining an angiogenin product will allow it to be used as the main component of regenerating (healing) ointments and gels, the Ministry of Economic Development of Altai Krai explains.

On the basis of the project, a small innovative enterprise will be opened, which will devote the next year to research and development work. They plan to cooperate with the Papa Gena design bureau of Altai State University.

As noted by the department, in 2018 Ksenia Starozhilova already became the winner of the Umnik (“smart” in Russian) program of the Foundation for the Promotion of Innovations with the project "Development of a recombinant thermostable highly efficient α-amylase".

The Start program is aimed at creating new and supporting existing small innovative enterprises striving to develop and master the production of a new product, technology or service using the results of their own scientific, technical and technological research, which are at an early stage of development and have significant potential for commercialization. The size of the grant in the Start program is up to two million rubles.
