A team of scientists led by Honorary Doctor of Altai State University Olga Lavrik carries out work to enhance the effect of anticancer chemotherapy

So is science in her life: for more than half a century it has been an overwhelming power, says Olga Lavrik, laureate of the USSR State Prize, holder of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland. And this is not a complete list of regalia, awards and titles. The main one is Scientist ... In relation to Olga, this word should be written only with a capital letter, colleagues insist. She herself has great respect for people of science.
A graduate of NSU, Olga Lavric has been teaching for many years not only at the alma mater, but also at Altai State University. These universities have become a cadre training unit for her laboratory of bioorganic chemistry of enzymes.
How does this incredibly complex organism - a human - work? What makes a living cell so perfect? It is impossible not to admire how nature has skillfully created everything, says the professor. Her area of interest is the mechanisms of DNA repair and restoration.
“DNA is a very fragile molecule, and the structure of DNA, which is a library of genetic information, is constantly being disrupted. These systems work extremely efficiently, restore the DNA structure, which is damaged by internal and external influences."
Since 2019 Olga Lavrik is a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. She explains that the status itself was not interesting to her. But she strove for it for special reasons.
“In order to develop even more effectively the direction in which I work, and the rest is not very important to me,” Olga explained.
