On January 29, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin visited Altai State University as part of an official visit to Barnaul.

At the flagship university of Altai Krai, a discussion platform "Dialogue of Equals" was organized, where Head of the Ministry mainly answered questions of young people regarding both the development of certain sports and the support of certain projects by the Ministry.

“I have worked at the university for over 30 years, therefore, when I am within the walls of a higher educational institution, and today we are at Altai State University, I feel the unique energy that has arisen here, in large part, thanks to the students, whose aspirations and desires stimulate us, adults, who already have a certain life experience, to move forward and a desire to help young people in solving urgent problems. It is these meetings that help to understand in which direction we are going and whether we make the right decisions,” said the Head of the Ministry.

“Dialogue of Equals” was organized in a question - answer format, where the topics of sports volunteering, the role of sports in the higher education system, the development of student sports clubs and the creation of a legislative framework to consolidate the role of sports in the education system were discussed.

“Many higher educational institutions do not have enough resources for the development of student sports, in particular, athletics, which is the basis for many sports. We need to work together with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation to ensure that athletics is present in all educational institutions, and the sports facilities of universities improve,” emphasized Oleg Matytsin.

Rector of Altai State University Sergey Bocharov addressed the organizers and participants of the meeting with a response and gratitude for choosing AltSU as a platform for the "Dialogue of Equals".

“It is gratifying that today the Ministry is actively solving not only the problems of professional sports, but also helps to develop university sports, therefore, I hope that with your support we will be able to deal with many issues,” stressed Sergey Bocharov. “We have 749 athletes and many times more volunteers who have proven themselves well at events of various levels, from the Olympics in Sochi to the World Cup. It is all the more pleasant that another significant event for our country, like holding a stage of the World Cup in rowing and canoeing, will take place in our city. For our part, we promise to provide you with all-round support and assistance in holding various levels of competitions."
