What prevents Altai Krai from monetizing innovative products? For example, biopesticides, which were invented at Altai State University. How to put a unique novelty into mass production?

The topic of "monetization" of innovative products was discussed at a meeting of the Scientific and Expert Council on the Development of Biotechnology.

For example, farmers and gardeners should thank this beetle. During the expedition of the South Siberian Botanical Garden, it was found in the vicinity of Barnaul. He behaved strangely. It turned out to be affected by mold fungi. On their basis, a new biopesticide was developed.

This is not chemistry, so the product is safe for humans and crops, scientists say. An experimental batch of the preparation was purchased by Moscow - to process cottage villages, including Rublevka. But biologists cannot industrialize it yet.

Sergey Smirnov, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Head of the Department of Taxonomy of the South Siberian Botanical Garden of Altai State University:

The sums start from 5-7 million roubles and more, the registration procedure itself. Naturally, to do this you need to look for an investor for this project. Scientists are good at making developments, but, unfortunately, they are poor businessmen.

How to motivate businesses with their innovations was discussed today at a meeting of the Scientific and Expert Council for the Development of Biotechnology. Although the region is not rich financially, it is rich in natural resources. This is the advantage of local scientists.

Recent developments include, for example, an alternative to sorbates - a harmless food preservative. At Biysk Technological Institute, it is prepared from sea buckthorn meal.

Many Altai innovative products are just on their way to industrialization. By the way, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Georgia are already interested in biopesticides. So our beetle still has a chance to revolutionize the pesticide market.
