AltSU concluded cooperation agreements with four universities of Uzbekistan

On May 26, Bukhara hosted the III Interregional Conference of Rectors of Universities of Russia and Uzbekistan, in which Altai State University was represented by Vice-Rector for Development of International Affairs Roman Raikin.

The conference was attended by Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of Uzbekistan Abdukodyr Toshkulov, Deputy Head of the Presidential Directorate for Interregional and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Anton Rybakov and Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Dmitry Afanasyev.

The session of the conference included three discussion platforms: "Training of highly qualified personnel in accordance with the needs of employers", "Organization of advanced training and programs of additional professional education for scientific and pedagogical workers and employees of enterprises in the real sector of the economy", "Cooperation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation in the sector of scientific research and development”, as well as a series of procedures for signing interuniversity agreements on cooperation.

Vice-Rector for the Development of International Affairs R. Raikin spoke at the first session and presented the proposals of Altai State University on cooperation with universities of Uzbekistan and the opening of a branch of Altai State University in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The conference resulted in the signing of 23 memorandums and agreements on cooperation between the leading universities of the two countries. The agreements reached provide for cooperation in the creation of joint faculties, scientific and educational programs and the exchange of teaching staff. As stated by the conference participants, education in Russian universities is in high demand in Uzbekistan. According to Rossotrudnichestvo, 35,000 Uzbek students are currently studying at Russian universities. Over the past two years, the number of branches of Russian universities in the Republic has grown from 4 to 12.

“Altai State University will cooperate with four universities of Uzbekistan at once - Tashkent State University of Law, Uzbek State University of World Languages, Samarkand and Karakalpak State Universities. We are actively working on the creation of a branch of Altai State University in Uzbekistan,” R. Raikin commented on the results of his participation in the conference.

It is worth noting that today about 1800 foreign students study at the flagship Altai State University, most of whom represent the republics of Central Asia - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The development of closer educational cooperation between Altai State University and Uzbekistan has been declared one of the main priorities of the international activities of the flagship university of Altai Krai.
