On June 25, at Altai State University, a cooperation agreement was signed between the flagship university and the Center for Cultural and Business Cooperation “Germans in Altai.”

Germans are the second largest ethnic group living in the region. Moreover, Altai Krai is the leader in the Russian Federation in terms of the number of the German population.

The Association of non-profit organizations "Center for Cultural and Business Cooperation "Germans in Altai", which was formed in Barnaul on November 25, 2019 and received the support of the Intergovernmental Russian-German Commission (IGC) on Russian Germans, is an association that actively participates in the organizational, educational, and training spheres.

“This cooperation arose out of the desire to solve several problems at once related to the training of specialists in the field of general history, ethnic history and culture of the German population of Altai Krai. German youth show great interest in the past of their people and their ethnic roots. This is evidenced, for example, by their active participation in such a competition as "My Family Tree". This interest should be supported by serious, intensive training, and here, our Institute of History and International Relations is ready to provide not only methodological support to the Center, in particular, within the framework of summer children's schools organized by the Association, but also educational, within bachelor's, master's and postgraduate studies in such areas as history, museology, ethnology and anthropology,” said Ivan Nazarov, Director of the Institute of History and International Relations, Altai State University. “Within the framework of the agreement, we expect that the Association will help to prepare children of different ages to study in summer schools and at our university.”

The Institute of History will provide the children with the opportunity to independently choose the topic of research work, will support them in their research and professional development.

Rector of Altai State University Sergei Bocharov and Director of the Center for Cultural and Business Cooperation “Germans in Altai” Ekaterina Filippova put their signatures in the cooperation agreement.
