AltSU associate professor Irina Rotanova gave a course of lectures to students of Alikhan Bokeikhanov University in Kazakhstan

What issues does modern geography deal with? What new methods and technologies are used in geography today? Where and how is this knowledge applied in practice? These issues were discussed in the course of lectures "Topical Issues of Geography", which, within the framework of international cooperation, was delivered at Alikhan Bokeikhanov University (Republic of Kazakhstan, Semey city) by an associate professor of the Department of Physical Geography and Geoinformation Systems, Candidate of Geographical Sciences Irina Rotanova.

During the week, from October 10 to 16, Irina Rotanova was in Kazakhstan under the academic exchange program, she acquainted students-geographers and historians with modern achievements in geography, the latest research methods, trends and experience of Russian and Altai geographers.

Head of the Department of History and Geography of Alikhan Bokeikhanov University, Candidate of Historical Sciences Kalamkas Bolatova suggested devoting one of the lectures to the relationship of geography and history, and the students asked to tell more about Altai. The wide scope of the course made it possible to include all the questions of interest in the lectures, which were accompanied by illustrative and cartographic materials.

There was also a discussion about closer cooperation, about the possibility of conducting internships at Altai State University for students and teachers of Alikhan Bokeikhanov University, about developing network educational programs. Geography today is not only the science of space, it is also space for cooperation.
