Dissertation Council on Physical and Mathematical Sciences opened at AltSU

The dissertation council on physical and mathematical sciences will start its work at Altai State University. The order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation was issued on September 27, 2022 and published on the official website of the Higher Attestation Commission under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

The document signed by Deputy Minister Elena Druzhinina says:

– Permit the creation on the basis of the federal state budgetary educational institution of higher education "Altai State University" of the council for the defense of dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Science 24.2 269.03 in scientific specialties 1.3.2. Instruments and methods of experimental physics (physical and mathematical sciences), 1.3.8. Physics of the condensed state (physical and mathematical sciences).

The dissertation council is headed by Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Director of the Institute of Digital Technologies, Electronics and Physics of AltSU Sergey Makarov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Head of the Department of Information Security of Altai State University Viktor Polyakov acts as the Deputy Chairman, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Nikolai Volkov has been appointed Scientific Secretary of the Council.

Sergey Makarov noted:

– The need to create a dissertation council is due to the fact that at present, in educational and scientific organizations located on the territory of Altai Krai and the regions of the Siberian Federal District, there is no dissertation council in the specialty: 1.3.2 – Instruments and methods of experimental physics (physical and mathematical sciences). However, the training of scientific personnel in the field of instrumentation is of particular importance not only for the development of the regions of Western Siberia, but also for the entire Russian economy, which is currently solving strategic tasks to increase national competitive advantages.

The opening of a dissertation council is urgently needed to solve the problems of economic development of Altai Krai and adjacent territories. The relevance of the creation of the council is largely determined by the geographical location of the region (border area) and the need to form a single scientific space with the adjacent territories of the countries of Central Asia.

Thus, the presence of a dissertation council will help solve the problem of forming a faculty corps of educational institutions in Altai Krai and neighboring subjects of the Russian Federation, will make it possible to retain highly qualified personnel in the declared specialties in the Siberian Federal District, and ensure the training of the necessary scientific and pedagogical personnel for the countries of Central Asia. To work in the proposed dissertation council, it is planned to attract leading scientists from universities and research organizations of Altai Krai.

The opening of the dissertation council on the basis of Altai State University will contribute to the intensification of the training of scientific personnel in the field of physical, mathematical and technical sciences, will significantly improve the work of research institutes in the Siberian Federal District and the countries of Central Asia.
