In the 2023/2024 academic year, the Сollege of Altai State University implemented the “Code of the Future” project. Students mastered popular programming languages – 1C, Python, Javascript and web development, and Java. The training started in November and ended on June 30.

“The ASU College has become a platform for the implementation of the federal project “Code of the Future.” Thanks to him, students acquired additional competencies in the IT field. Such a large-scale project gave students additional advantages in their future professional activities, and teachers received another platform for honing their skills,” noted Roman Rakitin, Director of the Altai State University College.

The federal project “Code of the Future” within the framework of the national program “Digital Economy of the Russian Federation” is a large-scale project for the development of digital competencies of students, implemented by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation together with leading organizations in the IT industry. At the beginning of the academic year, Altai State University became an official partner of the 1C Company in the implementation of this project.

The project started with 122 participants. These students underwent a serious selection process, which included testing by the federal operator ITIS. After this stage, participants were enrolled in educational programs. Most of them chose for their training the program “1C Developer: programming games and applications (entry level)”, the others studied “Java from 1C (entry level)”, “JavaScript or Basics of WEB programming (entry level)”, and “Python from 1C (First level)".

In order for the teacher to participate in the project, they trained on the 1C company platform. All teachers successfully passed the exams and received certificates of advanced training. 7 teachers were involved in the educational process: six of them were teachers from the college and one from the International Institute of Economics, Management and Information Systems.

“It was Roman Rakitin, Director of the College, who suggested that we, teachers of specialized IT disciplines, take part in this project. We had an option of several courses at the same time, but I was interested in “1C Developer: Programming Games and Business Applications.” In this course, we studied the basics of programming on 1C, created simple games (for example, Uno, Cubes, Quest), and within specific modules, which are planners on 1C and the monopoly game 1C: Tycoon. After completing the module, my task was to teach the students. To be honest, at first it was difficult to work with 1C both for me and the guys. Errors occurred related to syntax, incorrectly specified functions or procedures, and 1C version. But working through the errors that arose, my students and I gained good practical experience in working with reference books, documents, reports and configurations,” said Yulia Novikova, a college teacher at Altai State University.

All programs consisted of four modules, with 2 months given to each of them. For example, the entry-level modules of the “Python from 1C (entry level)” program consisted of “Programming Fundamentals”, “Business Application Development”, “Programming Workshop,” “Server Application Development. Client-server interaction.” And in the program “1C Developer: programming games and applications (entry level)” they were “Creation of games”, “Personal time tracking program”, “Pet store automation”, and “Deepening into automation”.

A detailed program was developed for students. It consisted of methodological material and face-to-face meetings. The participants were introduced to text and video formats. Face-to-face classes were held at least twice a week. All theoretical knowledge was developed while solving practical problems: for example, solving cases prepared the students for real work with these programming languages.

“In the “Java Script and Basics of Web Development” program, the students got acquainted with web-design and try themselves as a web developer. The program was built on a simple to complex basis. First, they learned the basics of web development, and then they created by themselves a full-fledged social network with their own personal account and chat. The guys even added an online store and games to it,” said Olga Lyskova, a college teacher at Altai State University.

“Each game created aroused interest among the students, and many of them independently tried to improve their information product. After completing the project, I still receive positive feedback from the guys with the desire to continue studying next year as part of this project,” shared Yulia Novikova, a college teacher at Altai State University.

“The relevance of the course “1C Developer: Programming Games and Business Applications” is explained by the widespread use of the 1C system in modern business. The structured nature of the educational material and the presence of video lessons helped students easily master the course content. As a result of the training, the students acquired skills in developing games and applications on the 1C platform, which can be implemented in the business processes of organizations and individual entrepreneurs,” noted Andrey Kochkin, a teacher at Altai State University College.

93 Altai State University college students reached the finals of the program. During 8-month training in the “Code of the Future” project, they learned popular programming languages and improved their IT competencies. Students will be able to add the certificate to their portfolio when entering a university or when applying for a job.

“I believe that such projects are necessary for students and teachers to improve their professional skills, as well as for their progress in the IT field. The level of students' knowledge has increased significantly. At the end of the fourth module, two of my students from the “Code of the Future” project participated in the 1C championship and took 4th place there. This is an excellent result for beginners!” said Yulia Novikova, a college teacher at Altai State University.
