The team of the Department of Physical Geography and Geographic Information Systems of the Institute of Geography of Altai State University won the State Contract for the development of the boundaries of territories and protection zones of more than 70 cultural heritage sites (CHS) located in different administrative districts and cities of Altai Krai.

In the first week of summer, the first expedition trip took place, the geography of which turned out to be quite extensive, and the objects varied - from individual obelisks and memorials to fellow countrymen who went to the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, to architectural objects of the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Expedition led by Head of the Department, Candidate of Geographical Sciences O. Ostanina with the participation of Associate Professors I. Rotanova and N. Kharlamova and senior teacher G. Dyakova traveled more than 1200 km, having visited the most remote, border regions - Uglovsky and Tretyakovsky, and completed a set of works on metric characteristics, photographing and determining the location of the CHS, as well as obtaining documents including historical, cultural and cartographic materials necessary for the development of the scientific documentation. Remote technologies were used in the works - an unmanned aerial vehicle and related software.

The members of the expedition noted the well-groomed state of the monuments to the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War - all of them, whether it be a city or a small village, were renovated, surrounded by green spaces and flower beds. The famous memorial complex "Cranes" ("To the soldiers who did not return from the fields of 1941-1945") in the village of Shipunovo is especially distinguished.

Now it is the time for cameral processing of the collected materials, design, formation of documents for entering information into the Unified State Register of Real Estate, as well as the next expeditionary trip.

The development of the boundaries, protection zones, as well as regimes for the use of territories of cultural heritage objects will contribute to the preservation of historical and cultural values in the region.
