On March 24, the administration of the Altai region of Altai Krai discussed the draft strategy for the socio-economic development of the municipality until 2035.

The draft strategy for socio-economic development of the Altai region was developed as part of the Altai State University strategic project "Sustainable development of Altai in the transboundary space".

During the discussion of the project, representatives of the Altai region business community identified several key “pivotal points” that should ensure the steady growth and development of the municipality. Among them are projects on territorial branding and image making, media coverage of its activities, educational programs for young people and other groups of the population. One of the key issues is the problem of acute shortage of young qualified personnel, mainly leaving the region for cities.

Summing up the meeting, AltSU scientists noted that the residents of the region have an active desire to participate in the development of their municipality.

Based on the results of the discussion of the strategy and projects for its implementation, we agreed on further cooperation: the project team from Altai State University will present its solutions to the problems identified by the residents of the Altai region and will develop a joint action plan to achieve them.

The next step in the implementation of the strategy for socio-economic development of the Altai region will be the adoption of the draft strategy by the deputies of the Altai Regional  Assembly of Deputies. Now the strategy of socio-economic development of the Altai region until 2035 is being evaluated at the Ministry of Economic Development.

Since September 2019, Altai State University has been implementing the Strategic project “Sustainable Development of Altai in the Transboundary Space”. A team of university specialists, together with local authorities and young scientists, has worked out socio-economic development strategies for three Altai Krai regions: Smolensky, Soviet and Altai. As part of the strategies, scientists and representatives of the business community have proposed more than 20 projects in the field of education, small and medium enterprises, state and municipal government.
