Altai State University discussed the role of universities in solving information security problems in the Greater Altai countries

On November 25, at Altai State University, an analytical session “Information and communication environments of the modern Turkic-speaking world. Altai Barometer " took place.

Scientists and media experts from Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan took part in the session. Altai Krai was represented by researchers from Altai State University, Altai State Technical University, and Altai branch of RANEPA. Altai State University students and undergraduates had the opportunity to participate in the discussion, and young scientists from Russia and Kazakhstan (MediaMonitoringGroup) to present the results of their research.

The session was moderated by Natalia Halina, Doctor of Phylological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Media Communications, Advertising Technologies and Public Relations, Head of the Center for Language Management and Communication Marketing of the AAF, expert of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The session is one of the events of the scientific group "Turkic-Mongolian world in the media space of the Greater Altai" of the international project "Turkic-Mongolian world of the Greater Altai: unity and diversity in history and modernity".

The connecting thread of the discussion was the vectors of changes in the communication space of the Greater Altai countries, updated at the international platform of the Eurasian Media Forum. The session participants outlined the challenges of the time observed in the media space of the participating countries, discussed the possibilities of socio-cultural projects in integrating the communication space of the Turkic world and the role of higher educational institutions and the scientific community in solving the problems of information and social security.

Vladimir Barbashov, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Altai Branch of  RANEPA and Saadat Shermatova, Deputy Director for Methodological Work of the professional college of KNU named after J. Balasagyn spoke about the possibilities of building transcultural communication based on the creativity and personality of writers, in particular, Ch. Aitmatov. This idea was supported by Kazakh colleagues who are also working in this direction. Z.K Temirgazina, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Higher School of Humanities of Pavlodar State Pedagogical University chose poet Pavel Vasiliev as a symbolic figure for the Kazakh-Russian space.

Denis Anikin, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Media Communications, Advertising Technologies and Public Relations of AltSU, Head of the Information Department of the Center for Language Management and Communication Marketing of the AAF, drew attention to the problem of the weak development of the humanitarian component of information security.

This problem was reflected in the projects of young scientists presented at the session, and in the discussion of the scientific capabilities of universities as a response to the challenges of the time.

Alla Kovaleva, Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Media Communications, Advertising Technologies and Public Relations of AltSU, Head of the project group "Turkic-Mongolian world in the media space of the Greater Altai" presented the scientific developments started within the project.

Colleagues from Kyrgyzstan, B.B. Maksutova, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations, Faculty of Journalism, KNU named after J. Balasagyn and G.D. Dzhunushalieva, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations, Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after B.N. Yeltsin, showed interest in research in this direction stressing their importance in the socio-political situation currently taking shape in Asian countries.

As Natalia Khalina noted: “The creative atmosphere of the session gives rise to new projects: the session participants planned several joint scientific and educational projects, agreed on joint actions to promote the project of publishing the journal “Altai Media Barometer”, which will allow the world scientific community to update the issues of transcultural and media communication interaction of the Greater Altai countries”.
