On 24 August 2017 scientists of Russian-American Anti-Cancer Center under Altai State University took the floor at The I Oncological Forum of Siberian Federal District. The forum took place on 22–25 August 2017 in Barnaul.

Candidate of Biology Andrey I. Shapoval, executive director of Russian-American Anti-Cancer Center under Altai State University, and Stepan Podlesnykh, employee of Anti-Cancer Center, presented results of their research in the framework of session on breast cancer.

Andrey I. Shapoval told the audience about development of peptide blockers of immune response control points for cancer immune therapy, while Stepan Podlesnykh dwelled upon results of serum antibodies analysis, which was carried out on patients with breast cancer with the help of peptide microarrays.

“I presented a report on development of medicines based on synthetic peptides. This scientific project has already received financial support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation,” Andrey Shapoval noted. “We develop peptide medicines that will interact with molecules participating in regulation of immune response in human organism. Such medical products can be used for cancer therapy and stimulation of immune response in case of oncological disease, as well as for autoimmune disease therapy, in other words for decrease of immune response. These medicines will be different, but the concept is the same: similar molecules will participate in both inhibition and immune response stimulation.”

Participants of the forum included guests from all over Russia. The I Oncological Forum of Siberian Federal District hosted oncologists from federal research centers of Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Tomsk, Novosibirsk, and from leading academic institutions of Chelyabinsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, Tyumen, Irkutsk, Ufa, Omsk, Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo, and Arkhangelsk.

It is to be added that All-Russian Seminar on Molecular Methods for Diagnostic and Treatment of Human Diseases organized by Russian-American Anti-Cancer Center will be held at Altai State University on 15 September 2017. The seminar will be attended by eminent American scientist, specialist in the area of early immune diagnostic and prevention of cancer, immunologist from Arizona State University (USA), Professor Stephen Johnston.
