Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan visits Altai State University

On February 4, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan Rafis T. Burganov paid a business visit to Altai State University.

The head of the Ministry of Education and Science of Tatarstan visited Altai Krai and got acquainted with the scientific potential of the flagship higher education institution of the region. In particular, the Minister visited the university’s Biological Medicine Research Institute, the activities of which are in line with the interests of developing innovative medical technologies in Russia in selected areas, taking into account world trends in biomedicine and pharmacology, the Altai Biotechnology Center, organized by Altai State University together with the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and engaged in the reproduction of elite planting material on a virus-free basis as well as carrying out certification of plant material.

R.T. Burganov also visited the Russian-American Anti-Cancer Center, created as part of the ASU Strategic Development Program. This is a large international scientific center for the detection, treatment and prevention of cancer. Then, the representative of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan was introduced to ASU Space Monitoring and Forecasting Center, the history of its formation, equipment, capabilities and achievements, as well as prospects for further development.

“Rafis T. Burganov was interested in research by ASU scientists in the field of biotechnology, space monitoring. This is due to the fact that in the Republic of Tatarstan they are preparing for the opening of a world-class scientific and educational center, one of 15 ones created within the framework of the national project "Science". In Tatarstan, the center will be created on the basis of Kazan Federal University and will be aimed at the integration of leading Russian universities and structures related to science. Since Altai State University is actively cooperating with KFU, the minister is considering options for further cooperation of the newly created republican research and educational center with ASU,” Svetlana G. Maksimova, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Development of ASU, said.
