On March 13, the strategic session meeting “Export vector of the Strategy for socio-economic development of Altai Krai until 2035 (Strategy 2035). Export of agricultural products” was held at Altai State University, jointly organized by the Ministry of Economic Development of Altai Krai, the flagship university of the region and Altai Krai Administration for Food Processing, Pharmaceutical Industry and Biotechnology.

The session brought together deputies of the Altai Krai Legislative Assembly, representatives of the executive authorities of Altai Krai and local authorities, regional export support institutions, and representatives of the scientific and academic communities of the region.

“The work of the session is devoted to discussing a significant and important section in the strategy of socio-economic development of Altai Krai until 2035, which refers to the export potential of the region. Currently, this draft strategy has already been approved by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. Now, in order to prepare it for the second reading in the Altai Krai Legislative Assembly, it was decided to conduct this strategic session at the initiative of experts, deputies and representatives of universities” said Anatoly A. Nagornov, Acting Minister of Economic Development of Altai Krai.

The strategy of socio-economic development of Altai Krai until 2035, according to its developers, is the basis for the regional strategic planning system that defines long-term goals, priority directions and tasks that the region will strive for in its phased development. It offers the basic tools and mechanisms for their achievement, taking into account the potential of the region, competitive advantages and current environmental challenges.

“Today, export is put at the forefront not only in Altai Krai, but throughout the country. Russian regions are implementing a number of national projects, for example “Export of agricultural products”, in which we are participating. We pledged to the federal center to increase exports to 501 million US dollars by 2024, and by the end of 2019, we already reached the amount of 285 million US dollars. It is very important for Altai Krai to develop this particular area of the economy, because today it is really difficult to develop production without sales markets, and export is a potential sales market where we can establish new relationships, increase supply volumes and thereby expand our presence in this market” explained Head of Altai Krai Administration for Food Processing, Pharmaceutical Industry and Biotechnology, Alexander A.Bolshakov.

Rector of AltSU, Sergey N. Bocharov spoke about scientific and expert support for regional projects. In particular, he noted that Altai State University has many research teams that conduct research on the broadest topics related to regional development, including the export of products manufactured in the region.

The session also featured the introduction of Export Standard 2.0. in Altai Krai, strategic decisions on the implementation of the region’s export potential in Strategy 2035, resource potential and strategic priorities for the development of agricultural exports in Altai Krai, the Asian vector of the region’s foreign economic cooperation, export product opportunities of the agro-industrial complex, etc.
