Teachers and students of the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies of Altai State University will participate in the international online conference “Digital transformation – towards sustainable food value chains in Eurasia”, organized by Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies.

The conference will be held 24-26 June as part of the IAMO Forum 2020, where a dialogue will be organized among researchers and stakeholders from business, politics and society, addressing the economic, social, environmental and institutional aspects of the digital transformation of food value chains.

“The IAMO forum is one of the leading European scientific events, where annually relevant topics are considered not only for scientists, but for the entire world community. This year, the focus is on digital technology in agriculture. In addition to the technologies themselves, it is important to understand the economic effects and aspects of public policy that stimulate the introduction of these technologies in production practice, and, in general, the direction of development of this field of science. I think that this event will be interesting to everyone - from students to successful scientists involved in agricultural development issues. And it’s wonderful that such an event will be held in an online format” said Associate Professor, Department of Theoretical Cybernetics and Applied Mathematics, Institute of Mathematics and Information Technology, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Elena Ponkina.

Altai State University has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies, located in the city of Halle, Germany, and has been actively cooperating for many years.

Participation in the activities of the Institute, according to Elena Ponkina, is also one of the forms of cooperation with German scientists.

“This forum is interesting in that it will demonstrate digital innovative technologies used in agriculture, and will talk about the development of this scientific direction abroad. We will analyze this material and see what we can adapt or implement here” said Elena Ponkina.

The following issues will be discussed within the framework of the IAMO Forum 2020 with a geographical focus on Europe, Central Asia and China:

• What is the impact of digital technology on different segments of food value chains?

• How are the benefits of digital technology shared between producers, consumers and agribusiness?

• How to deal with the potential risks of digitalization?

• How to meet the digital needs of manufacturers, traders and consumers and increase confidence in new technologies?

• How can digitalization enhance the resilience of the food chain model as a whole?

• What are the prerequisites for a successful digital conversion?

• What is the role of politics in realizing the digitalization potential?

• How can digital tools and methods be used for agricultural and applied research?

The working language of the conference is English. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided on the 3rd day (German-English).

Scientists and practitioners who can share their experience with the research community are invited to participate in the IAMO Forum 2020.
