129 delegates took part in the online meeting of the IV Congress of the Association of Asian Universities organized by Altai State University

On September 25, in the hall of the Academic Council of Altai State University, a meeting of delegates of the IV Congress of the Association of Asian Universities was held, organized within the IV International Educational Forum "Altai - Asia 2020: Eurasian Educational Space - New Challenges and Best Practices".

When opening the forum, Vice-President of the AAU, President of Altai State University Sergey Zemlyukov reminded that today 76 universities from 9 countries of the world are members of the Association of Asian Universities. To participate in the IV Congress of the Association, organized online for the first time, 129 delegates representing 55 AAU universities from seven countries registered, who communicated with the presidium of the congress via video conferencing.

President of the Association of Asian Universities, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and Academician of the Academy of Social and Pedagogical Sciences of the Russian Federation Muhammadyusuf Saydali Imomzoda in his welcoming address to the delegates of the congress thanked the organizers of the event for organizing the forum, despite the difficult epidemiological situation in the world caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

"The Association of Asian Universities has established itself as an authoritative association capable of creating conditions for progressive development and establishing mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of education and science. Nowadays, the popularization and propaganda of scientific knowledge is an important component of the development of society and the strengthening of cooperation between countries. I am sure that the ideas and recommendations put forward by the participants will serve the solution of these tasks, and in general will contribute to the comprehensive deepening of mutually beneficial cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of our states", the AAU President said in his welcoming address.

AltSU Rector Sergey Bocharov, within the framework of the opening of the congress, expressed confidence that cooperation between universities within the Association, demonstrating the positive results of joint work, will strengthen and expand from year to year.

"Today the Association is one of the most active platforms for international network cooperation of universities in the Eurasian space, uniting representatives of higher education from 9 countries of the world. Within the framework of the Association, the whole range of areas of network cooperation is effectively implemented: the internationalization of education, network scientific and educational interaction, scientific and expert-analytical support and support of interregional integration, international youth cooperation and intercultural dialogue, as well as support of the Russian language as the basis for the dialogue of cultures in Asian space. In each direction, the members of the association have formed serious groundwork for cooperation, implemented many educational and scientific projects and initiatives", stressed Sergey Bocharov.

The main topic of the congress was summing up the results of the organization's work, coordinating key areas of activity and defining a development strategy for the Association of Asian Universities as a platform for network cooperation of leading universities in the Asian scientific and educational space. In particular, it was noted that during the period of the Association's work, a large amount of scientific and expert-analytical work was carried out, archaeological expeditions, expeditions to study biological diversity, ethnocultural and national-confessional relations, social security and migration processes in the Central Asian region were carried out.

The implementation of the goals and objectives of the Association of Asian Universities positions the role of Altai State University in achieving SDG, contributing to the development of education, building peace-loving societies, cross-cultural interaction and peaceful dialogue on the development of societies, territories, countries.

Traditionally, within the framework of the AAU congress, applications were considered and 28 more universities from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan were admitted to the Association.

In accordance with the regulations, elections were also held for the next two-year term of the new president of the Association of Asian Universities. This is Kanat Zhalilovich Sadykov, Rector of the Zhusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University. 6 vice-presidents of the organization were also elected.
