Summing up the results of AltSU activities in 2020, the Rector noted that, despite serious challenges in the form of a pandemic and the rapid deployment of remote work formats, the flagship university demonstrated a good level of sustainability in the past year, although it could not fully ensure the achievement of all benchmarks stated in the development program.

“For 2020, the Academic Council of AltSU approved a number of the most important tasks of the university. Among them, one of the most significant is the task of assessing the results of the implementation of the program of the flagship university. We managed to ensure the fulfillment of most of the program target indicators," clarified Sergey Bocharov. “In 2021, the flagship university development program, adopted four years ago, comes to its completion. It is replaced by the Strategic Academic Leadership Program, which prioritizes the development of universities until 2030. Thus, AltSU in the coming year is faced with the task of participating in this competitive project. ”

In his speech, Sergey Bocharov pointed out that in 2020 AltSU achieved significant success in competitions for participation in national projects:

“Over the year, the financial results of participation in national projects increased three and a half times, reaching 145 million rubles. In particular, this concerns the implementation of additional vocational education programs, including training more than 2 thousand students under the personal digital certificate program, opening the House of Scientific Collaborations for the development of talented schoolchildren, implementing the export of education, and creating a laboratory of mathematical and computer modeling."

Sergey Bocharov considers  preservation of high positions in the rankings to be another significant task of AltSU in 2020. For example, last year AltSU rose in the global QS ranking and improved its positions in a number of national, global and international rankings.

At the end of the report, the Rector of AltSU announced the priorities for the university development for 2021.

According to President of AltSU Sergei Zemlyukov,  two directions of AltSU coped with their tasks most effectively in 2020 - educational and international activities.

“I think it is very important for the university, using the achieved potential in these areas, to reach the level of the leading universities in Russia. In particular, the international direction of activity can be significantly strengthened by entering a scientific and educational network project on the scale of the Central Asian region, with an emphasis on the Greater Altai,”  said Sergey Zemlyukov. “In the educational direction, AltSU should work out the optimal, in terms of quality and level of correlation, offline and online teaching formats, as well as work out models of joint and network educational programs. As for the prospects, one of the main educational programs for 2021, in my opinion, is the creation and development of flexible educational technologies."

During her speech, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of  Altai Krai Larisa Ternovaya noted that today out of 50 thousand people receiving higher education in Altai Krai, one third are students of AltSU.

“One of the urgent state tasks today is to improve the quality of education, and the quality of higher education is, first of all, one of the factors in the development of the regional economy. Altai State University develops students' systems thinking and directs them towards success! The individual trajectory of the development of talented youth, practiced at AltSU, is also important here, as well as the implementation of unique educational projects that the flagship university implements jointly with the regional ministry of education and science,” emphasized  Larisa Ternovaya.

In general, all the speakers in the debate noted that 2020 became a time for AltSU to test the strength of both the leadership of the university and its teachers, staff and, of course, students. The results of the year indicate that, despite the difficulties and changes in the format of work, the university managed to solve most of the issues that meet the requirements of the time. This means that the team of the flagship university will cope with new tasks!

It remains to add that at the open meeting of the Academic Council of Altai State University, the results of the competition among educational departments for 2020 were also announced, and at the end of the competition its participants unanimously recognized the work of the Rector of AltSU and the administration of the flagship university in 2020 as satisfactory and approved all the provisions included in the draft resolution of the conference.
