The regional stage of the All-Russian Olympiad for Schoolchildren in Biology was held at Altai State University. It was attended by 46 high school students from 18 municipal territories of the region.

Talented schoolchildren first practiced in training camps under the guidance of teachers of the classical university, where they mastered the skills of practical work, worked on tasks from previous years.

Then all the children wrote a theoretical task, after which they had a free day. On this day, schoolchildren got acquainted with the educational and scientific laboratories of the Institute of Biology and Biotechnology, the Research Institute of Biomedicine, and the Altai Center for Applied Biotechnology.

On the final day, high school students showed practical skills: the ability to use optical instruments, set up an experiment, and evaluate its results.

On the basis of a classical university, regional stages are held in 8 general subjects of the Olympiad: art (MHK), Russian language, biology, law, social science, mathematics, ecology, and geography. The All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren (VSOSH) is the largest intellectual competition among schoolchildren in Russia. More than 6 million people take part in it every year. The winners and prize-winners of the final stage receive a diploma that gives them the right to enter any university of the Russian Federation in the field of the Olympiad without exams, and are awarded a special prize of the Government of the Russian Federation.
