Chinese students participated in Youth Science Days

On 21 April 2016 Altai State University held a workshop called “Russian as Foreign Language and Linguistics” in the framework of Youth Science Days. It was organized by the Department of Russian as Foreign Language and Oriental Linguistics together with the Department of the Federal Migration Service for Altai Krai and Altai Krai Department for Tourism, Resort Business, Interregional and International Relations.

The workshop participants included 15 foreign students, who made their reports in Russian dedicated to the problems of studying Russian as foreign language and cooperation between Russian and Chinese cultures. The works were assessed by the judging panel consisting of head of the Department of Russian as Foreign Language and Oriental Linguistics, Doctor of Philology, Professor Lidiya M. Dmitrieva, leading officer of the Department of the Federal Migration Service for Altai Krai Elena V. Starkina and chief expert of the Altai Krai Department for Tourism, Resort Business, Interregional and International Relations Elena G. Bazina.

Each presentation matched the strictest requirements. The results are as follows:

  • The first place was given to student Tang Jiaming and her report “Culture-specific vocabulary in terms of specific linguistic and cultural conditions as exemplified in group of words meaning toys” (scientific supervisor M.V. Titova);
  • The second place was captured by student Lee Yuxin and her work “Comparison of gift-giving traditions in Chinese and Russian cultures” (scientific supervisor D.S. Dmitrieva);
  • The report “The image of dragon in Chinese culture” by Zhao Qi was awarded the third place (scientific supervisor A.I. Kulyapin).

The Department of Russian as Foreign Language and Oriental Linguistics congratulates the winners and thanks the participants for their hard work while preparing their reports in the foreign language.
