Media Dialogue of the Greater Altai Universities at AltSU to result in a competition for media publications on the topic of Eurasian integration

The website of the TV channel "Big Asia" reports on the results of the media dialogue of the universities of the Greater Altai which was held on September 30 at the site of II International Altai Forum. Journalists and press secretaries of the Greater Altai universities have agreed to hold a creative competition for publications on the topic of Eurasian integration.

Representatives of information services and journalists from five universities of four Central Asian countries within the historical boundaries of the Greater Altai met at Altai State University on the online discussion platform "Media Dialogue of the Greater Altai Universities". The media dialogue took place within the framework of II International Altai Forum with the informational support of the Russian TV channel "Big Asia" and "Bigasia.ru" site. The result of the media dialogue was the decision to hold a creative competition for publications on the topic of Eurasian integration among journalists from universities and the media in Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

Representatives of Altai State University (Barnaul, Russia), Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after the First President of Russian Federation B.N. Yeltsin (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan); National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek (Tashkent, Uzbekistan); Gorno-Altaisk State University (Gorno-Altaysk, Russia); L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University  (Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan).

The media dialogue, according to Head of the REC for Altaistics and Turkic Studies "The Greater Altai", President of Altai State University Sergei Zemlyukov, is directly related to the tasks of the project "The Turkic-Mongolian World of the Greater Altai: Unity and Diversity in History and Modernity" order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. More than 50 leading universities and research centers in Russia, Central Asia, and Europe are partners of the Greater Altai project. One of the areas of work of the Center, created at Altai State University in 2019, is the topic "The Turkic-Mongolian world in the media space of the Greater Altai."

As General Director of the "Big Asia" TV channel Alexander Lebedev noted in his speech, the channel's goal is to create stable communications between Russia and Asian countries.

According to Maksim Gerasimyuk, Vice-Rector for Informatization and Media Communications of AltSU, joint projects will be able to unite the information services of the universities of the Greater Altai in joint information activities, for example, a creative competition among journalists of universities and the media of Greater Altai, dedicated to the theme of Eurasian scientific and educational integration.

Maxim Gerasimyuk’s idea was supported by almost all the participants in the media dialogue. Professor of the Department of Journalism at the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek Yakutkhon Mamatova noted that a creative competition on the topic of Eurasian integration should be held not only among information departments and the media, but, first of all, among students. In addition, for full-fledged cooperation, it is necessary to sign a formal agreement on information partnership between universities.

Vice-Rector for Information and Public Relations of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after B.N. Yeltsin Leonid Sumarokov supported the idea of information interaction with Altai State University and said that a separate heading could be made on the university's website for "The Greater Altai" project and materials of the creative competition on the topic of Eurasian integration.

Journalist of the information center of L. Gumilyov Eurasian National University Olga Muravyova said that the University has a Research Center for Turkic and Altaic Studies, which will allow exchanging information and educational materials on this topic.

Head of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations of Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after the First President of Russian Federation B.N. Yeltsin Gulmira Dzhunushalieva stressed the importance of promoting common Eurasian values, the need to restore the historical memory of the common past of our peoples, lost over the past 30 years, especially among the youth audience.

Alla Kovaleva, expert of the Center for Altaistics and Turkology "The Greater Altai", Doctor of Sociological Sciences, spoke about the studies conducted by the center on the role of the "Turkic factor" in the media space of Central Asia and assessed the need for cooperation between universities in this area.

Head of the media center of the Gorno-Altaisk State University Valentina Malova, Head of the project initiation group of the Project Management in the field of education and the social sphere of the Russia Segodnya MIA Evgeny Efimov, Editor-observer of radio Sputnik in Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Oroskulov also took part in the discussion on information cooperation between universities and the Greater Altai media.

In conclusion, the participants in the media dialogue agreed to exchange agreements on information partnership between universities, create a common chat for the rapid exchange of information on current projects, and jointly organize a competition of journalistic publications on the topic of Eurasian integration among journalists of universities and the media of four countries.
