On November 29, 2019, the results of the National Aggregate Ranking, created by the Guild of Experts in the Field of Professional Education and Accreditation in Education journal, were presented.

Altai State University received the highest rating, having settled down in the First League of the leading Russian universities. In total, 721 universities in Russia were rated, while only 38 were included in the First League.

ASU is on the same level as the universities of the 5-100 international competitiveness project – Novosibirsk National Research State University, Far Eastern Federal University, South Ural State University, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, Siberian Federal University, Tyumen State University, and such country's strongest universities as Moscow Polytechnic University and Moscow State Institute of International Relations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, the remaining universities of Altai Krai could not rise above the Second League in this ranking.

The ranking is called “aggregated” because it was built on the basis of the results of 8 leading national rankings, satisfying, according to the authors, the conditions of publicity (have open access), stability (exist for not less than 3 years), mass (at least 100 universities are ranked) and frequency (compiled annually).

According to the compilers of the ranking, a new approach to assessing the activities of all universities was first proposed, based on the principle of maximizing objectivity by taking into account and aggregating all known assessment systems (both state and independent) and for the first time a “soft” mathematical apparatus was used to minimize the shortcomings of individual assessment systems.
