IA "Interfax": AltSU entered the QS Young University Ranking 2021
The British agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has published a new issue of QS Top 50 Under 50 2021. Only two universities represent Russia in the ranking. More details about the ranking can be found on the agency’s website.
For the first time, the young university ranking, with a 50-year history, was published in 2012. The first few issues really included 50 universities. In 2015, researchers tripled the number of universities covered by the ranking, leaving the title of the ranking unchanged - “QS Top 50 Under 50”.
In addition to universities created over the past 50 years, universities that appeared as a result of the merger, changed their title or status, that is, in fact, are not so young and having established academic traditions, can also take part in the ranking.
The drafters believe that this ranking is designed to give strong, actively developing universities an opportunity to make themselves known, able in the near future to compete with world research and educational centers with a rich history and traditions and, thus, help them become leading players in the global educational services market.
The QS Top 50 Under 50 ranking indicators fully correspond to the indicators of the overall QS global ranking.
The ranking includes universities in 44 countries. Australia is leading in the number of universities - 18 universities, Great Britain and Malaysia - 11 universities each, France - 10 universities, Spain and the UAE - 8 universities each.
The ranking was led by the Nanyang Technological University, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, City University of Hong Kong and the French PSL University.
Russia is represented by the Higher School of Economics - 31st position (last year shared 38th) and Altai State University - group 91-100.
