6 November 2020 Department of Information and Media Communications
From November 2 to 4, Altai State University hosted the III Interregional Folk Song and Dance Competition Tradition, which was held for the first time in an online format.

The organizer of the competition was the Center for Creativity and Leisure of Students and Employees of Altai State University with the support of the Association of Siberian and Far Eastern Cities, the Department of Youth Policy and the Implementation of Social Development Programs of Altai Krai, and the Committee for Youth Affairs of the Administration of Barnaul.

This project, timed to coincide with the National Unity Day, is unique in that it is held on the basis of a non-core educational institution and allows both professional and amateur creative teams and individual performers to participate.

The purpose of the festival is to support the initiative youth, acting in the direction of preserving national traditions. And its main task is the development of relations and friendly ties between youth creative teams of the regions. As a reminder, this year 23 regions and 5 countries took part in the competition.

“For the third time, we are holding the Tradition Interregional Competition. In 2020, we implemented it in an online format, which allowed teams from even distant corners of Russia and from other countries to take part. Also, this year we decided to launch a popular vote and identify the people's winner. And despite the fact that our competition is 14+, we received a large number of applications from children's groups and we could not help but pay attention to them and made the nomination “Tradition. Children.” Perhaps in the future there will be a competition “Tradition. Children". We thank all the participants and look forward to the competition next year in Barnaul".

The People's winner in the Vocal direction scored 600 votes (the vocal group of the ASPU "March 8", Barnaul) and 760 votes in the Choreography direction (the Rodniki folk dance ensemble of the ASU, Barnaul).

Based on the results of two days of competition, the jury members determined the winners, whose names were announced at the final stage of the competition on November 4 live at the gala concert, which had already been watched by 1,670 people.

In total, 89 acts became victorious, of which 19 received 1st place, 34 - 2nd place and 36 - 3rd place. The organizers will also send the winners' statuettes to the regions to the 1st degree laureates.

“On behalf of the creative teams of the Trans-Baikal State University, our students who are passionate about folklore, I would like to express my deep gratitude for your wonderful festival! This year, the online format gave us the opportunity to take part in it for the first time, and I would like to especially note the level of participants, the quality of organization and conduct, as well as the warmth of the atmosphere of the interregional festival called Tradition. We cheered for each other with passion, looked through all the acts and were really looking forward to the final results. The gala concert itself was held at the highest level, and it was a great joy and honor for us to win prizes.Sincere thanks for everything! Next year we hope that we will be able to present our culture to you on the Altai land!”, thanks Head of the Zdravitsa folklore ensemble of the Trans-Baikal State University, senior lecturer of the Department of Musical Art of the Faculty of Culture and Arts of the Trans-Baikal State University, Yulia Yanchuk.

“We took part in the competition for the third time and were once again convinced of its high level: organization, entry list, and competent jury. The online format has attracted teams from all over the country and abroad. It was incredibly interesting to get acquainted with the works of other regions. Our ensemble managed to prove itself in various nominations: from folk to historical and everyday dance. And the pleasant conclusion was the receipt of awards - 2 third places, 2 second, first and, finally, the People's winner prize according to the results of the audience voting. Now we are waiting for a new meeting in a year!", comments Head of the Rodniki folk dance ensemble of AltSU Galina Gryanikova.

“I am very glad that there are still people who organize and conduct such competitions. Participants of the Rendezvous Theater-Dance, students of the Omsk Transport University, took part in the competition for the first time and very much hope that next year they will be able to come and perform on stage, look at other groups and communicate with their participants. Thanks!", shared her impression Head of the Rendezvous theater-dance  Elena Umnova.

“In our difficult times, the online format is sometimes the only opportunity to “go out”, and this is so important for creative people. Thanks for this opportunity to the organizers",  said Irina Savushkina, Head of the Fantasy folk dance ensemble of ASPU.

“We express our deep gratitude to the organizers and members of the jury of the Tradition interregional song and dance competition for the excellent preparation of the competition, for the professional approach to evaluating the performances, for love and respect for folk culture, customs and traditions! Such contests are simply necessary for our creative youth, since their inclusion into the people's worldview and culture is a very important task in fostering patriotism among youth. Respectfully yours, Olga Vokhmyanina, lecturer at the Yamal Multidisciplinary College”.

“Our team took part in the Tradition competition for the first time, we really liked the organization, the professional assessment by the jury, it was interesting to see the acts of student groups, which, like us, are engaged in folk art in universities. We would very much like to come to the competition next year, we hope it will be held offline. We wish the contest prosperity and new talents. White Day folk song and dance ensemble, East Siberia State University of Technology and Management, Head Svetlana Padankina, Ulan-Ude, Republic of Buryatia".
