Altai State University scored 17th by reputation among top Russian universities

Altai State University has become the only Altai higher education establishment to join the list of 130 best universities in the internationally acclaimed QS-Emerging Europe and Central Asia ranking by British company Quacquarelli Symonds.

In QS University Rankings: EECA 2015 ranking ASU is placed right after the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), leaving behind 3 federal higher education organizations and 7 scientific and research institutes, including South Ural State University (National Research University), Kazan National Research Technological University, Belgorod National Research University, Perm State University, National Research University of Electronic Technology MIET, Yakutsk North-Eastern Federal University, Northern (Arctic) Federal University, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University.

ASU is tied with Siberian Federal University, Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, Moscow State Linguistic University, Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University) and National Mineral Resources University (Mining University) for 121-130 place.

All in all, there are 81 Russian universities presented in the ranking, among which ASU is taking confident 32nd position. The expert evaluations are based on academic and business community representatives’ survey results. Such records as lecturers and students ratio, number of academic publications, citation indexes, the proportion of Doctors of Science in teaching staff, number of international lecturers and students were also taken into account.

QS annually publishes the lists of the best higher educational establishments of the world, as well as the separate countries and economic regions.

Altai State University was ranked 17th among Russian universities in reputation, gaining 67.8 points and almost coming up to National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University (68.9 points) and Lobachevsky University (68.9 points).

QS Global Academic Survey respondents include professors and universities’ managerial staff with about 20 years’ experience in science. In 2015 more than 55 thousand scholars, including leading scientists and rectors of over 500 world universities, participated in the academic survey. Respondents can name up to 30 top universities, except the one he is working for. They are bound to their educational establishments by their electronic mail official domains (polling with public mail services is not allowed), which makes the results manipulation impossible. QS rankings are considered to be some of the affluent rankings in the world alongside with Academic Ranking of World Universities and the Times Higher Educational World University Rankings.
