ASU was included in SCImago Institutions Ranking 2017

Scimago Laboratory in collaboration with Elsevier has published another issue of international ranking for academic institutions (SCImago Institutions Ranking 2017).

All in all, 5,250 scientific and educational establishments of the world have been ranked, including 56 leading universities of Russia.

Altai State University has taken the 692nd position.

The ranking is based on 12 indicators, which are divided into 3 groups:

  1. Research. This group comprises 8 indicators, the cumulative percentage of which equals 50%. Scopus databases serves as an information source for this group.
  2. Innovation. The group includes 2 indicators and covers 30%. PATSTAT database is a source of information.
  3. Societal impact. The group includes 2 web indicators, the composite share of which is 20%. The information is taken from Google and Ahrefs.

It is to be noted that 10 of 12 indicators used by the ranking are influenced by the size of the institutions, and only 2 indicators are size-independent. Altai State University has the lowest number of lecturers among eight other flagship universities of Russia that managed to capture a position in the ranking, which illustrates high efficiency of research and innovative activity of the university staff members.
