ASU rose up by 205 positions in Webometrics Ranking of World Universities

Results of Webometrics Ranking of World Universities based on performance of world’s higher education establishments in the first half of 2017 have been published.

Altai State University captures the 2909th position in the list of 11992 universities of the world. It managed to rise up by 205 positions and outrank a number of Russian leading universities, including Saint Petersburg State Electrotechnical University (2953rd), Tyumen State University (3037th), Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (3736th), Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy (3797th), Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation (3922nd), Immanuel Kant State University of Russia (5093rd), etc.

Altai State University took the 36th place among 1223 higher education institutions of Russia indexed by the ranking.

It is to be noted that Webometrics Ranking is published by the Cybermetrics Lab research group of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). It has been conducted since 2004 and is updated every January and July. It is one of the main and most important rankings in the world.

Webometrics does not only analyze representation of the universities on the Internet on the basis of incoming links to their websites, which reflect their popularity and prestige value, but also estimates the number of universities publications issued within the last 5 years and 10%  of the most referent academic papers.

The results clearly demonstrate the dynamic development of Altai State University and its increasing visibility in international academic community.
