The analytical center Expert has published the sixth edition of the subject ranking of the publication activity of Russian universities.

This year, 137 universities have qualified for getting into the ranking in at least one subject (127 in 2020).
Altai State University entered the TOP-10 Russian universities in the field of "Arts and Humanities", occupying the 9th line of the ranking.

In other 4 areas, "Management" (Business, Management and Accounting), "Economics" (Economics, Econometrics and Finance), "Social Sciences" and "Environmental Science”, the flagship Altai State the university entered the TOP-15 universities of Russia, ranking 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th, respectively.

In addition, Altai State University was awarded the 27th position in the direction of "Life Science".

It is worth noting  that apart from AltSU, only 4 universities of the Siberian Federal District are included in the TOP-15 of at least one of the 21 research areas, and all of them are the leading universities in Russia - participants in the 5-100 project: Novosibirsk State University (NSU), National Research Tomsk State University (TSU), Omsk Polytechnic University (TPU), and Siberian Federal University (SFU).

The ranking was based on 4 large blocks:

• the scale and sustainability of the university's scientific activities (how large and cited are the university's research teams conducting research in this subject area);

• demand for scientific activity (the level of journals with researchers’ publications and the average number of citations per article);

• growth quality (quality of citations and index of concentration of publications in journals, exclusion of opportunistic practices of increasing publications);

• superiority (number of publications Q1, average citation of articles Q1, and representation in subdomains Q1).

It should also be mentioned that AltSU is repeatedly noted in the subject rankings of the AC Expert in humanities. The high AltSU’s positions in the ranking are due to, among other things, publications by AltSU scientists in the TOP-3 of the most influential and cited journals in the world;  over the past 6 years, university scientists have published 5 articles in Nature, 3 - in Science, 3 - in Science Advances.
