An all-Russian conference on the development of education exports was held at AltSU

On the basis of the flagship Altai State University, within the framework of the federal project "Export of Education", an All-Russian scientific and practical conference was held with the international participation of heads and employees of international university services.

On October 21, Altai State University, together with the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia and the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, within the framework of the project “Export of Education”, held an All-Russian scientific and practical conference with the international participation of heads and staff of international university services “Export of Education as a Factor of Development of Regions in Siberia: interim results, trends, and prospects.”

There were 136 representatives from 20 universities from Belgorod to Vladivostok, including the leading universities of the Siberian Federal District, as well as foreign participants - the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after B. N. Yeltsin and the Kyrgyz National University named after I. J. Balasagyn. There were representatives of classical, polytechnic, agricultural and industry-specific universities, universities of creative directions. The conference was also attended by representatives of the Office for Migration Issues of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Altai Krai and the territorial Administration of Rospotrebnadzor, as well as the head of the HR department of one of the largest regional companies - employers - OO STC "Galeks".

“We are holding such a conference together with our partners from RUDN and RANEPA for the second time. It is devoted to the development of education exports and the international activities of universities in general, especially regional universities, which have acquired particular relevance recently,” said Roman Raikin, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development of Altai State University. “The education system has overcome in many respects the shocking year of 2020, when epidemiological restrictions were suddenly introduced, which hit especially hard on the international component of universities' activities. Employees of the international services of Russian universities, thanks to the organizing and coordinating role of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, were in constant contact and discussed in detail the emerging problems, tasks, and mechanisms for their solution. 2021 has been the year when we are ready for these restrictions, much could have been predicted, but the turbulence continues and therefore the issues of summing up the results of this year's admissions campaign and the interim results of the transformation and adaptation of the educational system to new conditions, along with rethinking the role of international cooperation and the education export in the new programs of strategic development of universities, implemented within the framework of the "Priority 2030" project, modernizing national projects, indicators of achieving national development goals and regional programs of socio-economic development, are of particular importance today."

Deputy Minister of Education and Science for Altai Krai Galina Sinitsyna and Vice-Rector for International Affairs of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia Larisa Efremova greeted the participants of the conference.

During the plenary session, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of the RUDN University L. Efremova, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development of Altai State University R. Raikin, and Head of the Education Export Department of Novosibirsk State University, Director of the Novosibirsk Interuniversity Center for International Education "NICE" E. Sagaidak made their reports.

Then, within the framework of the conference, three discussion platforms were held: "Education export as a factor of marketing Russian education worldwide," "Tools for recruiting foreign applicants," "Trends in the development of higher education: global tracks and national solutions," where spoke representatives of Tomsk State University, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Far Eastern Federal University, Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, Altai State University, Altai State Medical University, Altai State Institute of Culture, and Altai State Technical University.

The participants discussed a wide range of issues related to the role of higher education in the international competitiveness of Russia, the importance of universities as key elements of regional development, the positioning of educational products of Russian universities in the international market and new models of attracting foreign applicants, creating a comfortable and safe socio-cultural environment for foreign students in Russian universities, the results and prospects for the development of foreign resource centers of Russian education, the development and implementation of network international educational programs, the functioning of preparatory departments in the new conditions, etc.

At the suggestion of E. Sagaidak, Head of the NSU Education Export Department, it was decided to hold a conference of specialists of international affairs at the platform of Altai State University on an annual basis.
