July 20, Altai State University hosted a delegation of young compatriots. 56 young people aged 14 to 19 from 12 countries near and far abroad arrived in Altai Krai under the Rossotrudnichestvo program “Hello, Russia!”.

Children from Australia, Belarus, Germany, Israel, India, Spain, Kazakhstan, China, the Netherlands, Serbia, Uganda and France gathered in the hall of the Academic Council of Altai State University to communicate with representatives of the university and the authorities of Altai Krai. Some of them had never come to Russia before, and only heard stories about it from their parents and grandparents. But for many of them it was not the first time here, they speak the language well. For everyone, such a meeting is another opportunity to communicate, get to know their historical homeland and make friends among compatriots living abroad.

A representative of Rossotrnichestvo, Ksenia Filimonova, read out a welcoming speech on behalf of Head of the Federal Department, Yevgeny Primakov.

“It's nice to see your sincere interest in the history of Russia, its diverse and multinational culture! Altai is one of the most beautiful and mysterious places in our country. Here you will find the purest rivers and lakes, picturesque forests, wide fields and majestic mountain ranges. It seems that even the air here is filled with fairy tales and legends, and the tops of the slopes keep the secrets of centuries-old traditions and customs. May your journey through Altai Krai be filled with unforgettable impressions and meetings. I wish you to have an amazing trip and make new friends, welcome to Russia!” Yevgeny Primakov noted in his letter.

“2.5 thousand foreign students from more than 30 countries of the world study at Altai State University. In fact, every fifth student of our university is a foreigner. We are located in the geographical center of Eurasia, in the Greater Altai at the junction of the borders of China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Russia. For us, this is the point of application and our scientific resources, we have a large number of foreign students from these countries. But these countries are not the only ones in our international cooperation, we have very active international collaborations with almost the whole world. We implement projects related to the promotion of Russian education, support of the Russian language and culture abroad. The main thing is that we are trying to be a university for our applicants and students, not only an educational institution where venerable professors pass on their knowledge and experience to the younger generation. We are not only the university, which will issue a diploma upon graduation. We are trying to ensure that our graduates are ready to work with the technologies of tomorrow. The university should be a place that will allow you to become competitive and successful professionals tomorrow. We invite you to Altai to rest, study and live!

The meeting was informal, the guests asked their questions. Vladislav Razmyslovich (Minsk, Belarus), a student of a specialized class under the University of Civil Protection of the Republic of Belarus, asked if he could come to Altai Krai after receiving secondary education and continue studying in his specialty.

Roman Raikin replied:

“Here, the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical-Pharmaceutical Technologies at AltSU has a direction called Technosphere Safety. A significant number of graduates of this direction continue to work in the structures of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The university has a Center for Space Monitoring and Emergency Forecasting, which receives satellite images daily in order to predict emergencies in the interests of the specialized department of civil defense and fire safety. Scientists see the flood situation, fires and dangerous hydrometeorological phenomena in real time. You have the opportunity to continue your studies at our university.”
