ASU organized Altai International Model United Nations
Altai International Model UN successfully finished its work on 1 March 2017. It was held in two stages. The first stage took place on 28 January, while the second stage was carried out on 28 February – 1 March. The tradition of holding Model UN originated in 2015, when postgraduates of the Department of World History and International Relations decided to organize such an event.
Model UN hosted over 50 participants from different faculties and universities including foreign students from Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. In the course of event students discussed different countries’ policies and worked on the draft resolution related to the fight against racism.
The discussion turned out to be very interesting. The participants demonstrated their oratorical skills and fair knowledge of the international situation. All speakers agreed with the necessity of fighting against racism. They tried to show their countries’ attitude towards specific aspects of the topic. The first stage of the event was dedicated to discussion only, while during the second stage the participants adopted a final resolution.
After the event the organizers held a certificate delivery ceremony and a tea-party. The participants noted that the event was very professional and productive. They acquired new knowledge, explored the work of international relations specialists and had fun. The next Model UN is to be held in 2018.
