Preparatory Department for International Students

The preparatory department for foreign students trains foreign citizens in Russian as a foreign language, as well as in disciplines of various profiles in Russian.

Foreign citizens study Russian language:

  • for admission to Russian educational institutions (higher and secondary special education),
  • For preparation for state testing in Russian as a foreign language,
  • For work within and outside of the Russian Federation using Russian language,
  • for successful communication in Russian in different areas of life.

Department accepts foreign citizens with different levels of Russian language skills - from zero to advanced. According to the level of proficiency, groups of trainees are formed on the basis of preliminary testing.

Study programs:

For admission to Russian educational institutions (higher professional and specialized secondary education):

  • Program "Preparation of foreign citizens and persons without citizenship for studying professional educational programs in Russian language (humanitarian orientation)" in the volume of 2376 hours,
  • Program "Preparation of foreign citizens and stateless persons for studying professional educational programs in Russian language (economic orientation)" in the amount of 2376 hours,
  • Program "Preparation of foreign citizens and stateless persons for studying professional educational programs in Russian language (engineering and technical orientation)" in the amount of 2376 hours,
  • Program "Preparing foreign citizens and stateless persons for studying professional educational programs in Russian language (natural sciences)" (2376 hours).

These programs provide training for:

  • in Russian as a foreign language (general proficiency) - 1,692 classroom hours,
  • in the language of specialty (humanities, economics, engineering and natural sciences) - 108 class hours - 514 class hours,
  • Specialized subjects in Russian according to the area of study: mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, history, literature and social sciences (170 hours of class time each).

To prepare for state testing in Russian as a foreign language; to work in Russian within and outside the Russian Federation; to communicate successfully in Russian in different areas of life:

  • "Russian as a foreign language (general proficiency)" in the amount of 1800 classroom hours;
  • "Practical Course of Russian as a Foreign Language (General Knowledge)" in the amount of 900 hours;
  • "Practical course of Russian as a foreign language" in the amount of 300 hours;
  • "Russian as a foreign language for specialists in the humanities" in the volume of 1200 hours;
  • "Russian as a Foreign Language for Economists" in the volume of 1200 hours;
  • "Russian language as a foreign language for engineers and technicians" in the volume of 1200 hours;
  • "Russian language as a foreign language for natural science specialists" for 1200 hours.

Training programs for specialists of different profiles include training:

  • Russian as a foreign language (general knowledge) - 900 class hours
  • 300 class hours of training in the language of the specialty (humanitarian, economic, engineering, natural science).

Students are provided with teaching and methodological aids and additional study materials, students have access to electronic library systems and special electronic teaching resources of the university and "Education in Russian" portal, as well as to all funds and services of Altai State University library.

The educational process lasts for 10 months (from September to June).

At the end of the training a certificate of mastering additional general educational programs at the preparatory department for foreign students is issued.

To enroll in the preparatory department you need to send to the e-mail address asu.prepdepartment@mail.ru:

  • Scanned copy of your passport (your passport must be valid for at least another year and a half from the date of entry into Russia),
  • Official, certified translation of your passport into Russian,
  • a completed application form in English or Russian (a sample form is attached).

The starting date of receipt of your documents is May 1, 2023. Application review time - 3 weeks. Time of registration of the invitation - 1 month.

Starting time of groups - September.

Registration of documents should begin at least 3 months before the start of training.
