Prombiotech engineering center, which was established on the premises of Altai State University, continues to work on creation of promising biotechnological products for agriculture.

Vice director Sergey V. Pospelov and director of Altai Center of Applied Biotechnology Dmitry A. Durnikin gave some information about the center’s infrastructure, up-to-date high-technology equipment and immediate objectives.

Prombiotech staff includes more than 20 people. They are research workers, engineers, purchasing specialists, industrial testing experts. Engineering center’s main direction is the development of biotechnological products for the needs of agriculture and plant protecting agents. In particular, it has already created two biotechnological products from the beginning (from the strain) to industrial production: biological conservative for foodstuff and feeding antibiotic (analogue of imported virginiamycin, which is actively used by cattle farms of Russia). Both products are created in the framework of import-substituting program. They are not only cheaper, but also 35-40% more effective than foreign analogues and has extended storage period. Both agents have successfully passed pilot tests in cattle farms of Altai Krai and were highly appreciated by the farmers.

The center also provides services for industrial testing of innovative biotechnological products created by partner-organizations – All-Russian Scientific and Research Institute for Animal Breeding, N. Vavilov All-Russian Institute for Plant Cultivation, etc. In 2015 Prombiotech conducted 21 tests, while in 2016 it has already carried out 100 tests!

“We have 3 objectives to fulfil by the end of 2016,” noted vice director of Probiotech engineering center Sergey V. Pospelov. “Firstly, we need to finish creating center’s infrastructure and hiring specialists, who can practically apply all technologies and equipment. Secondly, we are to realize our major projects – biological conservative and feeding antibiotic. Finally, we would like to include our own promising developments to the process of engineering.”
