Prombiotech engineering center and Altai State University hosted a seminar on food ration optimization and cattle feeding in Altai Krai with the support of L.K. Ernst All-Russian Research Institute of Animal Husbandry and Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy.

The main discussion issue was how to balance ration of different animal groups using existing food supply of Altai Krai.

“We did not only discuss practical aspects of cattle feeding, but also told the audience how Prombiotech can help local agricultural enterprises and how farms can participate in industrial tests conducted by our engineering center,” noted scientific expert-consultant in biotechnical products of Prombiotech, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences Dmitry V. Kashirin. “The first tests of the new generation probiotics showed their high efficiency. Thus, using probiotics in milk cows feeding increased the milk yield by 15-20%, while adding probiotics to calves feed resulted in 8-10% weight gain. Currently, we are performing experiments with ferments for silage.”

Representatives of more than 50 agricultural enterprises took part in the seminar. There were both active participants of Prombiotech testings and newcomers, who had just started getting acquainted with ASU engineering center’s products.  For example, center’s products are now being actively introduced to farms of Altai Krai, Vologda Oblast, Kaluga Oblast and Novosibirsk Oblast. In particular, the representatives of Slavgorodskoye and Russkoye Pole (Russian Field) enterprises shared their experience at the seminar, and 5 large farms of Novosibirsk Oblast are going to join the testing of Prombiotech biological products by the end of the year. Besides, the engineering center plans to start working in Belgorod Oblast, Omsk Oblast and Moscow Oblast in 2017.

“Practice shows that such organization as Prombiotech engineering center, established on the premises of Altai State University and supported by Altai Krai Administration, is an important instrument for Russian developments promotion on agricultural market in the framework of import-substituting program,” said Dmitry V. Kashirin.

“Probiotics, prebiotics and symbiotics production is a promising direction, which is actively introduced into farm animals feeding, especially feeding of dairy and meat cattle. Their usage results in positive results, performance improvement, weight gains, increase of milk production and even immune system reinforcement and increasing life expectancy of milk cows. This is why this direction has undoubtedly bright future,” said conference participant, head of the Department of Animal Feeding and Breeding at Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy, Doctor of Biology Nikolay P. Buryakov.

The expert added that the scientists of Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy and Altai State University were willing to collaborate and reach positive results in improving food supplies of Russian animal breeding.
