Zhang Yunfei, a graduate student and assistant at the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language at Altai State University, became the most unique participant at the World Youth Festival in Sochi. Zhang both joined the delegation of Altai Krai and represented his homeland China.

The World Youth Festival in Sochi served as a platform which brought together 10,000 individuals from 190 nations. Among them, Zhang Yunfei from China was part of the delegation of Altai State University, along with Russian students. He was one of the ten students of ASU who took part in the solemn procession of the youth of the world, which took place on Medalnaya Square.

“I became a representative of both China and Altai Krai, Altai State University. Youth should have no boundaries, youth is like a warm wind, like fire, like the morning sun – warm, sparkling and powerful. We gathered in the Olympic Park in Sochi and became the brightest stars. It is my great honor to represent the youth of China at this World Festival. We took part in the procession in traditional costumes showcasing our country and culture to the world. We sang songs praising youth. Our procession symbolized a journey around the world into a new era. We should unite the youth of Russia and China, and continue to develop our great friendship,” Zhang Yunfei shared his impressions.

The Youth March is one of the culminating moments of WFY-2024, which allowed all its participants to feel involved in establishing the idea of multinational unity.
