Employment prospects and career trajectory after graduation from INGEO master's programs were revealed by invited master's graduates of the Institute of Geography.

“A master's degree is decisive for the career growth. It is quite difficult to take a leadership position without a master's degree. In my department, out of nine people, eight are graduates of the educational programs of the Institute of Geography. There are more than a thousand jobs in the system of state management of nature management in Altai Krai alone. Basically, these are top managers, and several times more employees at enterprises interacting with the environmental management department, who, in their professional activities, simply need to know the environmental management system,” said Nina Loginova, Deputy Head of the State Geological and Land Supervision Department, INGEO, supervision of protected areas and in the field of hunting of the South Siberian Interregional Department of the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Nature Management (Rosprirodnadzor).

“Having a master’s degree from the Institute of Geography, I got a job at the Forest Protection Center of Altai Krai, where I promoted the creation of a department for remote observations and geographic information systems. Subsequently, my scientific work, carried out in the magistracy, aroused great interest in Moscow at the competition of scientific projects organized by Roslesozashchita. Colossal knowledge, experience in analytics and work with GIS programs were highly appreciated, and I received an invitation to work in Moscow. But, despite the good offer, I decided to continue improving my knowledge, so I chose to further improve my skills at my native university. The foundation of knowledge gained in the magistracy of the Institute of Geography allowed me to go into science. Now I work at the Institute and lead the university development project within the framework of the Priority 2030 Program. I believe that the master’s degree and the knowledge gained have become fundamental in my work trajectory!” shared her story Lyudmila Dolgacheva, teacher at the Department of Physical Geography and GIS, head of the project “Ecological state of agrogenic soils and modes of their rational use in the conditions of the dry steppe of Altai Krai.”
