ASU international students have celebrated Nowruz holiday

On 17–18 March 2016 ASU hosted Nowruz celebration, which was organized by Association of International Students (AIST), students from Central Asia together with the leaders of Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Tajik expatriate communities under the support of International Affairs Department, Department of Educational and Extracurricular Work and Department of Oriental Studies of ASU Faculty of History.

Nowruz is a national holiday of Persian and Turkic peoples traditionally celebrated in Iran, Central Asia, Volga Region, Caucasus, some regions of India and China.

At the opening ceremony the welcoming speech was delivered by Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development
R.I. Raikin and leaders of national expatriate communities. The participants have noted that the number of international students is growing – currently there are more than 800 foreigners studying at ASU.

Students conducted a national costumes show presenting extensive variety of traditional men’s and women’s clothing of their countries. Furthermore, students carried out a musical performance and played national instruments.
Nowruz is celebrated for the second time at Altai State University. It is becoming a cultural tradition of ASU international students.
