September 8, a coordination meeting of rectors of member universities of the Association of Asian Universities was held in Uzbekistan at Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov.

Let us remind you that these days the VI Asian Student Forum is taking place in Samarkand, which is organized with the support of Altai State University. The idea of this Forum originated at the site of Altai State University in 2012; for several years the Asian Student Forum was held in Altai, but now it is striding confidently across the entire Asian continent.

The purpose of the Forum is to promote the development of youth contacts in the cross-border space of Russia and Asia, as well as to attract youth from Asian countries to international cultural, humanitarian, educational, sports and awareness-raising projects, and international youth events.

As part of the Forum, a coordination meeting of rectors of member universities of the Association of Asian Universities is traditionally held, where plans for university cooperation and work for the coming years are discussed.

At the opening of the event, the President of the Association of Asian Universities, Rector of Samara State University, Professor Rustam Khalmuradov delivered a welcoming speech. Greetings from the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan Komiljon Karimov, Vice-President of the Association of Asian Universities, and President of Altai State University Sergei Zemlyukov were also read out.

In total, representatives of 30 universities took part in person, and more than 35 universities connected remotely. Among the speakers were rectors and vice-rectors of large universities participating in the Association of Asian Universities.

At the meeting, was signed an agreement on the network implementation of educational programs between Altai State University and Samarkand State University in the areas of history and Turkic studies.

As Roman Raikin, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development at Altai State University, noted, the agreement will help improve the quality of training through the use of the resources of two leading universities – Altai State University and Samarkand State University.
