ASU improved its performance in Webometrics ranking

The Cybermetrics Lab research of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) has published another edition of Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.

Altai State University took the 41st place among 1,307 Russian universities ranked. It was positioned right after Tyumen State University, which is the participant of 5-100 project (special government program aimed at supporting Russian major universities). Other universities of Altai Krai took 121st place and lower.

Moreover, ASU captured the 3,114th position in the world ranking. It managed to outdo such leading universities of Russia as Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (3,448), Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation (3,800) and Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (4,204). All in all, Altai State University got ahead of 4 federal and 7 national research higher education institutions.

Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is one of the main international university rankings. It has been conducted since 2004 and is updated every January and July.

Webometrics estimates world’s universities on the basis of their web-sites. The purpose of the ranking is to increase universities’ and scientific and research institutes’ Web performance and to promote open publication of their research results.

The ranking results clearly demonstrate dynamic development of Altai State University and its increasing recognition in international academic community. It is to be reminded that in August 2016 Altai State University took the 51st position among Russian universities in Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.
