5 different countries congratulated the participants of Central Asian Peoples Congress

Today, 17 March, the opening ceremony of the II Student Congress of Central Asian Peoples confined to Nowruz national holiday of Persian and Turkic people.

The congress, which is organized in the framework of ASU Student Associations Development Program, brought together several hundreds of youth leaders from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and China.

“Importantly, Nowruz is an international holiday that unifies many peoples of Central Asia,” noted Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development Roman I. Raikin. “The number of foreign students, studying at Altai State University, is increasing every year. However, higher education establishments of Central Asian countries are our key partners in organization of different educational and scientific events, academic exchange. Students come to ASU to take a course in the framework of SCO University, and they don’t only receive high-quality education, but also participate in various cultural and sport programs. I am happy to welcome you on the II Congress of Representatives of Central Asian Countries and hope that the forum will be one more step towards productive collaboration.”

Chairman of Altai Krai Social Organization Board “Tajik Expatriate Community” M.A. Abdulloev; member of Altai Krai Public Chamber, authorized agent of Kazakhstan Commercial Representation in Altai Krai in Russia, member of National and Cultural Kazakh Autonomy M.S. Bekmuratov; chairman of “Our Home – Altai” local national and cultural Kyrgyz autonomy of Barnaul N.Sh. Tolebaev; lecturer of the Depratment of Oriental Studies of ASU Faculty of History Wang Zhongjun; director of the Institute of History and Law under Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Candidate of History, Professor B.S. Zhumagulov have also congratulated the participants on Nowruz and opening of the congress.

The two days’ program is full of scientific, sport and creative events. Today the congress hosted the regional interuniversity competition in history of Russia and Kazakhstan for students from Kazakhstan, national youth sport festival that included the contest in weightlifting.

According to the congress program, on 18 March the guests will take part in the round table on intercultural dialogue and civil identity among youth and in the international scientific and practical conference “The 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independency: problems and results” at 10 a.m. At 3 p.m. the festival of Central Asian peoples’ traditional cuisines will take place in campus C refectory. At 5 p.m. the congress program will be finished with the youth festival of national creativity.
