The Commissioner for Human Rights in Altai Krai, Professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law of the Institute of Law of Altai State University Anton Vasiliev made a report on the protection of the rights of young scientists at a meeting of the All-Russian Coordination Council of Commissioners for Human Rights, dedicated to the protection of the rights of youth. It took place on November 15 in Moscow.

The meeting was attended by human rights commissioners in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, members of youth councils under human rights commissioners, as well as representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Rosmolodezh, federal authorities and parliamentarians.

During his speech, Anton Vasiliev focused on the problems faced by young people seeking professional development in the scientific field.

“Unfortunately, the number of young people employed in the scientific and research fields has been reducing. Many of those who do decide to be in science after receiving higher education and entering graduate school are disappointed in their choice due to the low social status of scientists, the lack of government support measures, and the very complexity of scientific work. Also, the continuous reduction in the number of dissertation councils and their concentration in the largest Federal centers worsen the situation. In the long term, all this will entail the aging of Russian science. To prevent this, today we need to start creating additional guarantees to ensure the rights of young scientists,” noted Anton Vasiliev.
