AltSU will continue to teach students from Africa and Latin America to speak Russian
The preparatory department for foreign students of the Institute of Humanities of Altai State University once again became the winner of the competition of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation for the selection of federal state educational organizations, at the preparatory departments, preparatory faculties of which foreign citizens and stateless persons have the right to study in additional general education programs within the quota of the Ministry.
As a result of the competition, AltSU will receive state quotas for training foreign citizens at the preparatory department in the 2023-2024 academic year. Quotas for education in the next 2022-2023 academic year are provided by participation and victory in the last year's competition.
AltSU has been teaching foreign citizens from far abroad for 5 years at the preparatory department according to the quotas of the Ministry.
Students from far abroad, mainly from Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Latin America, traditionally study at the preparatory department for foreign students of AltSU. This year, students from African countries such as Ethiopia, Chad, Somalia, Zambia, Benin, Congo, Angola, Gambia, Comoros have come to study here. Students from Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Mongolia, China and Indonesia represent Asia. We also have students from Latin America - Colombia and Ecuador. There are 55 students in total.
The main goal of studying at the preparatory department is to master the Russian language, which over the next few years will be the language of instruction for students in Russian universities. Most of our students will study for their degrees at AltSU. They will become students of various areas of study in bachelor's, master's and postgraduate studies.
In addition to intensive daily classes in the Russian language, the language of future specialties and special subjects (mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, history, social science and literature), our students are adapting to living in Russia, in Barnaul and studying at a Russian university.
Foreign students also acquaint with the cultural values of our university, city and region.
