On February 19, the Youth Academic Choir from Altai State University gave a concert titled “Waiting for Spring” in Biysk.

True connoisseurs of academic vocals gathered in the hall of the “Rodina” Youth Center, despite the chilling weather.

“We performed a diverse repertoire of 21 numbers including Russian folk songs arranged for choir, classical works based on poems by renowned poets, devotional compositions, as well as duets and solo numbers. All members of the team were full of enthusiasm, we were ready to charm the Biysk public with our refreshed program. And indeed, the concert proved successful!  The audience left a lot of feedback in the book, which we always take with us when we give concerts. They came up after the performance, thanked us, and invited to come again,” said the artistic director and director of the group, Nikolai Lazovsky.

After the concert, letters of gratitude were presented from Altai State University to the Department of Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of Biysk and the team of the “Rodina” Youth Center for their assistance in organizing and holding the concert.

The Academic Youth Choir of Altai State University was created in 1977. In 1980, the choir received the title of folk group, which it has successfully confirmed to this day. Today, about 40 people sing in the choir – students, undergraduates, graduate students, as well as graduates of Altai State University.

Now the team is actively preparing for the reporting concert, which traditionally will take place in May – during the celebration of the university’s birthday.
