Contemporary geography through the use of new methods and technologies studies the relevant to all mankind global processes occurring in the environment. These include global warming, which is already affecting virtually all sectors of the economy, as well as people, ecosystems and livelihoods around the world.

The proposed master's program aims to train highly qualified, competitive specialists with knowledge in geoinformatics and modern geoinformation methods in application to the professional tasks of geography, geoecology, recreation and bioclimatology, environmental management; methods of fundamental and practice-oriented geographic research; modern technologies for studying various aspects of the impact of climate warming on various aspects of the population The acquired knowledge and skills will contribute, among other things, to the development of recommendations for the sustainable development of Altai Krai and Russian regions under conditions of observed and projected climate change.
