The III National Annual Exhibition-Forum VuzPromExpo-2015, where ASU scientists’ latest developments were presented, has finished its work in Moscow.

In particular, ASU presented 9 projects in foodstuff, agricultural, biotechnological, medical and instrument-engineering areas at the exhibition.

“We mainly showed the developments in natural science that were made by Altai Center of Applied Biotechnology, ASU Bioengineering Laboratory and other scientific centers of the University specializing in living systems. But the majority of Russian universities were demonstrating achievements in engineering science, so our projects were interesting as one of the few biotechnological developments exposed at the exhibition,” said director of Altai Center of Applied Biotechnology of ASU, Doctor of Biology Dmitriy A. Durnikin. “At the forum we learned about the latest accomplishments of other educational organizations and came to the conclusion that in some areas we are in the forefront of Russian academic science. The outcome of our work at the exhibition is that we reached agreement on cooperation with several Russian universities in industrial and agricultural biotechnology.”

The VuzPromExpo-2015 visitors expressed a particular interest in ASU scientists’ developments. For example, Belgorod National Research University noticed the projects in agricultural biotechnology. Belgorod University has only started working in this direction and is ready to send a group to ASU for undergoing internship. They were especially interested in ASU scientists’ experience in plants microclonal propagation.

“We have also conducted negotiations with Tomsk State University and Lomonosov Moscow State University that took interest in our project in creating the “potato tree” universal modular hydroponic installation for growing elite planting potato. The visitors of our stand also noted the bioinsecticide for destruction of pests BioTerminator, portable DNA amplifier and so on,” specified Dmitriy A. Durnikin.

At the end of the exhibition Altai State University received a diploma signed by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation A.V. Povalko and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation G.S. Nikitin. But according to Dmitriy Durnikin the most important outcome were the agreements on cooperation with the leading universities of our country.
