ASU Rector S.V. Zemlyukov wishes Happy New Year

Dear lecturers, colleagues, current and prospective students, partners of Altai State University!

I wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, which are the most awaited and joyful holidays! This the time of summarizing the results of the completed work, warm wishes, new hopes and thoughts about the future plans.
2015 was a breakthrough year for Altai State University, because ASU has won all possible for a higher education establishment scientific and research grants and competitions for the total sum of more than 500 million roubles, thereby guaranteeing the implementation of science programs in the interests of ASU in 2016–2018. That includes two mega grants of the Government of the Russian Federation for biotechnological projects implementation; the project in establishing PromBioTech engineering center for industrial biotechnologies development on the premises of ASU; projects in development of import-substituting medical products manufacturing technologies and establishment of the country’s first youth innovative creativity center for biomedical technologies, which has been supported by Altai Krai Administration. Furthermore, in 2015 Altai State University has for the fourth time become the winner of the competitive selection in the framework of the Student Associations Development Program, which was held by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

In the passing year we have also held the First All-Russian Congress of the Youth Scientific and Engineering Associations and the First International Biotechnological Symposium “Bio-Asia, Altai – 2015” successfully. This year our university has been included to the list of 150 best higher education institutions of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) according to the British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and to the TOP-15 high-demand Russian universities created by the International Information Agency “Russia Today” with the participation of Market Research Center. The quality of educational, scientific and cultural potential of our university is annually confirmed by these and many other respected rankings.

At the end of the year Altai State University has made a nice present to its students: it started the construction of one of the highest student dormitories in Siberia with 1000 beds, two buildings 14 and 16 storeys high. The students will be able to move into the dormitory in 2017.

It is only a tiny part of what the university has been able to achieve thanks to hard and productive work of ASU scientists, lecturers, students and other staff members. But we are not going to rest on our laurels – we are preparing to conquer new heights, which we will surely reach in 2016!

Let 2016 be the year of endeavours continuation and desires accomplishment! Let it be bright, successful and fortunate! Let everything that you wish on the New Year’s Eve come true!
