Faculty of History students go out on the ice

On 13 February the Faculty of History students gathered at the skating rink in order to participate in the figure skating masterclass. The participants included ASU international students.

The idea of organizing the winter Health Day belongs to Vice Dean for Educational Work of the Faculty of History Ksenia A. Pozharskaya, who turned out to be the real guru of figure skating.

“First we learned how to fall down the right way and to poise on ice. Then we mastered the simple skating steps that allow gathering speed while sliding on the ice (“swizzles”) and the connecting step “3 turn”. Some students even earned some more difficult elements like “lunges” and “ducks”,” noted Ksenia A. Pozharskaya.

“I enjoyed the Health Day a lot,” added Faculty of History student Angelika Kogan. “Despite the fact I skate well, Ksenia A. Pozharskaya has taught us new elements, that I could not do. It was very fun, but the most interesting part was when I suggested taking run and jumping into the snow. If the Health Day has the same format next year, I will participate with great pleasure.”

“I liked the masterclass, because I have mastered different elements on the ice, which I was not able to do in the past,” said Faculty of History student Anastasia Grishina. “I also had fun competing in speed, doing the conga-line and rolling in the snow.”

“I had no results at first,” shared her impressions Chinese student Hou Manjing, “I didn’t know how to keep balance, I was afraid of falling down. But then, when I was explained what to do, I started training and everything turned out well! When I skate, I feel like I’m dancing on the ice like a swan. My friends and I had a very good time playing and taking photographs. Of course, we would like to gather at the skating rink again.”
