ASU Rector leads the section at the forum for university rectors of Russia and China

Today, 5 July, M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University hosts the Forum for University Rectors of Russia and China “Strategy of Russian-Chinese Scientific and Educational Cooperation”. Rector of Altai State University Sergey V. Zemlyukov is one of the participants.

The forum has brought together the representatives of the Ministry of Education of China and the Embassy of China in Russia, rectors of 90 Russian and 80 Chinese universities. The total number of participants is more than 400.

The forum organizers have planned a busy event program, which includes workshops, plenary sessions and signing of cooperation agreements between the universities. The rectors will discuss a number of issues concerning legal organizational forms of Russian-Chinese scientific, educational, social and cultural cooperation, prospects for creating the new global universities ranking and increasing of Russian and Chinese universities competitiveness around the world.

The welcoming speech has been delivered by Vice Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Olga Yu. Golodets and Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China Liu Yangdong. The forum participants also include Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Dmitry V. Livanov and Rector of M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University Victor A. Sadovnichiy.

S.V. Zemlyukov is leading the section called “Cooperation between Russian and Chinese universities in realization of “One Belt, One Road” and “Eurasian Economic Union” projects”. This fact proves that an important role of Altai State University in development of international educational cooperation with China has been acknowledged. Moreover, ASU Rector is going to deliver a report titled ”Networking cooperation between universities in trans-border area of Eurasian Economic Union and China: experience of Altai State University and Asian Universities Association”.

ASU recent guest, Rector of Heilongjian Institute of Foreign Languages Liu Ying is also among the forum participants. She participated in the General Meeting of Asian Universities Association (23–26 June 2016) and highly appreciated the level of cooperation between Altai State University and universities of China and Central Asia.

The forum is held due to the renewed interest to strengthening of Russian-Chinese relations. The 17th Meeting of Russian-Chinese Committee for Humanitarian Cooperation has taken place in Moscow recently. In the course of the meeting the participants have discussed the promising directions of joint work in different spheres, such as education, culture, youth policy and health care.
